I recently recorded a podcast about my flipping houses journey. My friends and mentors Dave and Melina Boswell from New Wealth Advisors Club interviewed my wife and I about our journey to becoming successful flippers and mentors at NWAC.. I sat back and listened to the podcast which was just released Wednesday and was blown away by my wife's transparency and openness. Our journey from 2009 to 2017 has been a fun ride filled with the ups and downs of any business. More importantly are the friendships and business relationships made that will last a life time as we fought together in the trenches of a labyrinth of information and strategies. We have finally focused our time and effort on the must productive approaches to solving the real estate game of flipping houses. I hope you enjoy this podcast and can see yourself successfully flipping your first house some time soon.
I spent the last few weeks trying to write my next blog and started and stopped a few times. I mean there are so many real estate blogs out there and they all say the same thing. I want to stand out and make a difference for people trying to get into real estate investing. With this in mind I just thought back to 2009 when I was fumbling through the learning process kinda half in and half out because I was afraid to commit 100% and fail. I figured if I gave 10% effort then I had a good excuse for failing. I don't know about you but I think that is typical of someone trying something new. Especially the under achiever. I think that is me in a phrase. That was my problem my first year. So I got laid off and I started getting low on funds. That helped me to realize I gotta make this work. I wasn't going to find a job like the one I'd been laid of from and the truth was I was sick of that industry. I was sick of having a boss and punching a time clock. I really enjoyed my first year of entrepreneurship and maybe had too much fun. It was time to buckle down and get serious.
So that was 2009 and here we are 2016, nearly 2017, and I'm still doing it. Well I guess I have some valuable tips and experience to share and I'm gonna do the best I can. I hope you enjoy the upcoming blogs and stories about my journey towards being a full time real estate investor for nearly 9 years now! Wow, I'm letting that sink in. When I first got into flipping houses I started with leads that came by referral and expanded to bandit signs and even tried mailers. I now use 3 sources for my leads consistently to keep me busy doing flips. I'm gonna share those over the next few weeks and keep you up to date on my current deals. The good and the bad. I hope I can make a difference for you. Contact me if you have any questions.
In the late 90’s I started ordering real estate investing courses like No Money Down. I never had time to pursue it seriously due to work my schedule with a lot of overtime. From that time till 2009, when I was laid off, I worked in the printing industry. My wife Catherine and I had four children and attended and served at church regularly and we felt like everything was good up to that point. 1 year before the lay off in February, my friend of 9 years had told me he had been flipping houses. So I had more than an interest in learning what he was doing and how. So the lay off didn’t hit too hard as I was really ready for a change. For the next year I dedicated myself to learning about real estate investing and 7 years later I am still doing it.
That’s what my website is all about. If my friend whom I knew and trusted hadn’t helped me get going, I sincerely doubt that I would have dedicated all my time and energy to making this work. So that’s also what I decided to do. Take on the responsibility of helping others live out their dream to make a living flipping houses. I do this in addition to my busy schedule flipping houses and I love my life and my business more than you can imagine. My fliphouseswithme.com website will have tips on how to get started as well as testimonies from my students. I’ve worked with dozens of individuals who tried every program like myself to get into flipping houses. Time and time again they say the same thing, where were you guys blank years ago when I was trying to do this with xyz real estate seminar guru. I believe we have the best answer for wannabe/newbie investors to get started. I’ll keep this blog going with deals and success stories and I hope we can work together in the near future to help you flip your first house.
